Friends of Portobello is a campaign that aims to preserve Portobello Road, Notting Hill, as Britain's first Business Conservation Area. We seek to better protect and promote our much-loved street market.

Our Mission
- we aim to persuade our local council, RBKC (Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea), to rezone Portobello as Britain’s first Business Conservation Area
- we aim to ensure that London retains Portobello as a place where new entrepreneurs, traditional business and stallholders can continue to flourish
- we aim to provide a focus for local people to have a say on how Portobello is developed in the future

Why we exist Friends of Portobello was recently formed to prevent Portobello’s diverse character and rich retail life from ever becoming another ‘clone town street’. More than ever, Britain's best shopping streets are fast becoming identi-kit high streets with big name chain stores flexing their muscles over small, independent shops. We don't want Portobello Road to progress this way.
